red dusted heart

my finest moments are littered
with broken pieces of twilight,
and Crucifixion silenced
my hall of soul and light

but as the first moment
after the chaos of a storm,
light returned to filigree
and bewitch me every morn

my illumination came
with skeins of pain and pride,
and yonder on the windowsill
my hide is tanned and dyed

Ive wandered off the path
and traveled terrain for goats,
I waded through the mud
and around a castles moats

my walkabouts have taken me
to places far and wide,
but deep within my being
each cell is wattle lined

my ills and pains are eased
when I look just out the door,
and gum trees stay a swaying
and leaves do dance the floor

and endeavoring to fill
the hole that scars in part,
I bend and pick up red dust
its the essence of my heart

It must

It must be beautiful. I slept with the sand in the picture, it is very fine like silk. But abrasive with the sheets, growing up I was used to it. raskin

it is beautiful … I

it is beautiful ... I sometimes wonder at people complaining about this and that in our country, then I look out the window and think where else am I going to get gum trees and wattle the kangaroos and the koalas its just like well dreamtime ...and they are blind to one of the most beautiful countries in the world I am biased though and the sand ? that would be annoying we dont get the dust in our bed unless god sends us a dust storm from hell like he did last year ... I cannot imagine sleeping in it ... we all adapt to our environs ... its our nature for survival love and hugs Jayne x x x

Back at ya Dear Jayne

Quite a tender read, couple spell checks, yay!, lol. 2nd stanza, last line, should it be bewitched? 4th stanza, 2nd last line, should it be waded, if so, extra d. Boy, I can never get to do that often. This poem is wonderful and I hope you enjoyed the day. Quiet here until the arv, then barbie time. A few dropped in so now I have a heap of dishes, yuk. No paper plates, lol. Any way this was a great read, very vivid and an awesome scene. Love Lyz. XX

Had to reply

Yep, the rain did not even send one drop , we were outside and I thought it was heading out to sea, so Mayfield copped it, I wonder if it cooled it down much, I am still hot. Safe trip hun. Lyz. XX

Happy Aussie Day!

I don't know how I missed it! You have written a beautiful tribute to a beautiful country. Someday, somehow, someway, I hope to get to see it for myself. Until then, I will have to depend on Nat.Geo and the wonderful poets and friends that inhabit Aussieland and Neopoet. Thanks for the vision, love and hugs, ~ Gee
