Acrostic, Sumatran Tiger - Haiku, Endangered,

Acrostic, Sumatran Tiger
Spirit cat
under the stars she takes the
midnight watch her
acrobatic might
tracking through the night
rarely to be seen
an arsenal of teeth and claws
noiselessly stalking her prey
Teaching her young
In a world that’s shrinking
Grave is their future
Endangered is their plight
Roar to save the Tiger!

Yes punctuation is the issue

Yes punctuation is the issue isn't Dale. I shall work on it. I wouldn't want her to present something that wasn't its best. Thanks for you kind review and words. I do like sharing it with my kids. Facts are I think they resent my writing a touch. They do like to be included. Its great for us. Not as... easy as I like. But with in everything we have lessons. I value them greatly. And it was fun. Julie D.D.

How does that look Dale?

How does that look Dale? Part of my issue I think was I was afraid to turn in something unpunctuated to a teacher. And also the spacing was a cut and paste formatting issue. But I think that you were right about the punctuation. And she is a teacher. She will get it. I hope. Thanks for your time and help. Julie D.D.

your poem

lovely poem, I think we all share your regret that so much is being lost of the natural world. It is some consolation to think that in an infinite reality our world is most probably duplicated somewhere and therefore species are never really lost.

You are a woman of talent,

You are a woman of talent, DD. Expert in so many styles of writing. Now I see you as a wonderful mother who is bestowing poetry, a sense of stewardship to her daughter. Well done in every sense. http://www.tigersincrisis.com/sumatran_tiger.htm ~A "What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal." Albert Pine

Sumatran Tiger...

I am glad that I am not the first to comment. Everyone else has done the critique, and I get to just enjoy the moment. My beloved Nat. Geo has done articles on the Sumatran Tiger and the precarious position it is in. I particularly enjoyed the one a few years ago, that showed how some of the natives had dealt with attacks by them. The natives made masks, and wore them on the back of their heads to fool the tigers into thinking that they were being watched. It seems that the natives had noticed that villagers who were looking at the tigers were rarely attacked. So they devised this means of keeping the tigers at bay. Most other people would have shot the tigers and been done with it! I'm sure that it didn't work all the time, but it shows that the people who are most endangered have a sense of how valuable an animal they are. Nice work, in teaching your daughter the value of this beautiful animal, and in being involved with her and her schooling. ~ Gee P.S. You both get an A+

But in Sumatra that is not going to be enough sadly. 2 strains are already extinct in indonesia. Sad. But I love sharing it with my daughter. And I love learning about Tigers. Endangered wildlife

I swear Julie I've watch the Lion-Man, Craig Busch from New Zealand, so many times that it can never be enough. I've just been on the net to find that Zion Park has been shut down due to a mauling. After this comment I'm going to go back to the net to see what it's all about. Have you ever watched his programs. His tigers and lions and all his big cats are unique, most of them tame, and beautiful. But what outsiders seem to forget that no matter how tame a wild cat is, you have to respect them, they can turn vicious for many reason. He's still the king of wild cats and has done so much good for the preversation of them through the years, no matter what I'm about to read on the internet. To get back to the comment on your poem, you said it all. Tigers, tame or not, are beautiful and should be respected, reared, protected and bought back to the wild Great poem. xena465

Yes Xena, Any tiger in

Yes Xena, Any tiger in captivity has the capablity to maul someone. And sense we don't speak tiger, makes it unlikly someone will understand thier warning signs. Its not safe or sensitive to the tiger to be in captivity unless nessesary. We do have poplations never exposed to the wild that could not return and more will be born. We only know about the US numbers, world wide it must be alot. So not all cats can even be wild now. But the most important ones are the ones left in the wild. And saving any that our being miss treated giving them a proper home, with minamal human exposure except for thier upkeep is the best way to live in captivity. Reserves. So they at least help carry the tiger genes on, in the most natural way possible. As long as they themselves are not geneticaly damaged. Some wild populations are so threatened that they only exist in captivity. Sad. And if its not our responsibility to care and do something about the endangered cats, than whos is it. Sorry, did I mention my infinity for Tigers. They are speacial. Thanks for reading and commenting Xena. Also for letting me know of the internet news, very sad. GO TIGERS!! Julie D.D.

Zion Park

Hello Julie I went back to the Internet and watched his press release. His mother took over the park and he was sacked. The mauling and death of his friend resulting in the tiger being shot, he'd reared from a cub, devastated him. Her was near to tears all the way through the interview. This would not have happened if he was still in charge of the park. He never allowed anyone near a big cat without him, as most of his cats saw him as his father, however, he himself wasn't completely safe and always sensed when not enter their domain. Also their were safety protocols in place at all times. If you're interested you can watch this video by typing in: ONE News Extra: Craig Busch press conference, on Google Search. I've registered with: petition to re-instate the lion man. I see by your profile that you're a lover of all animals so I thought this may interest you. Rosina xena465
