We Choose Our Poems

We are really pros in the art of crashingthe destination we so much desire, foxes really deciding the fruitbeing too high, or too low for that matter. Some could even cast their dreamsupon their most educated guesses. But unwilling as they are, however, they brood but others’ wits and desires, the estranged, desperate dramas  of a not so much a productive magic. We are the fruits we dreamed to be;but few of us are willingto act as if our thoughts really mattered. We share the self placating opportunities, morphing  wills and chances, these hopesbeneath our supersticious shadows. They venture our true solaceunto the lucky turnsof the Fates,  the senseless pickof the careless, the fat handoutat the expense of the poor and needy. However, hidden in the warmth and joyof stupendous words and phrases,  we cultivate the pearls of the better life.
Thus embraced by the colorful weaveupon the burnings of the precious heart, the wise designers keep silent beyondthe brightness of the sun,the insistent, sacred voiceof the Poem we did choose to live, when choice was at the par with living.

Very different for you

A great depth in this, not wistful as some of your poignant writes are but alive and meaty by the linear breaks. The breath of the lines when reading aloud, the pace, it races me along in urgency to listen to the message contained within and the last three lines was the deliverance of that message. Different and lovely because of that Seabhac

Some really really strong expression

and great images. But in your heart of hearts do you really think the content sustained the length? I did enjoy the read, very much. Cheers, Jess, reprehensibly irrepressible

In matters of taste an color I'm left without a clue, and in lenghts and other measures I'm still learning. But thanks for the advance, I'll be on the lookout next time. Sincerely, Hugo

I want to say that your

I want to say that your effort on this poem ranks high as a poetic achievment. On that merit alone you are deserving of the spotlight. The first three stanzas put together in brilliant fashion your theme, then I have to side with Jess on the balance of the piece I think it could be more focused and strengthened. The problem lies in the stanza below. The multitude of ideas, and images brought together here. They tend to meld together a little incoherantly. Tidy this up a bit and yo'll extract a lot more juice from the fruit, and these lovely ladies. Do we wait for the yet non-existent, sad and mysterious earthy hand who will pluck our hairs from boredom? Many share the self placating opportunities, morphing wills and chances, and hopes beneath our supersticious shadows. The insidious hand, which will alienate the glorious verbs of love and action from our user friendly happiness. They venture our true solace unto the lucky turns of the Fates, the senseless pick of the careless, the fat handout at the expense of the poor and needy. yours, B

Thank you so much for your comment, and the indications for the changes I needed to make. I knew something was askew, but being judge and part I could head in the right direction. I really appreciate it indeed. Sincerely, Hugo

I love this one

The last verse I love the most... However, hidden in the warmth and joy of stupendous words and phrases, we cultivate the pearls of the better life. Thus embraced by the colorful weave upon the burnings of the precious heart, the wise designers keep silent beyond the brightness of the sun, the insistent, sacred voice of the Poem we did choose to live, when choice was at the par with living. It reads to me that by writing poetry we can reach people that can take joy, comfort, relief, peace of mind etc; and that someone out there understands. The poem I submitted: `Daddy's Special Girl` worried me a bit that it would be thought of as distasteful. But it was praised by a few and I was so pleased because I believe that it happens all to much to children and we can't shy away from the truth. xena465

Dear Hugo

This the best poem that I have read of yours. It is thoughtfully provocative with many novel turns of phrase. I am very glad to see such poetry. Brian
