Officially Done
I've lived a lifetime in your smiles
but that's not how it was supposed to be.
With curtains drawn
I greet the dawn
and the clock ticks quietly.
We were meant to be each other's friend
we weren't supposed to even see the day.
Around the bend
I guess it had to end
given all you had to say.
I shared a lifetime in your eyes
the fire's out but the hearth's so warm.
I blame it all on fate
we shouldn't have to wait
in any shape or any form.
The aftermath just makes me sick
it's even more than fate aught to allow.
Talk down to me
and I'll set you free
I don't feel sorry for you now.
I shared a lifetime in your heart
and neither one of us can claim they won.
I'll walk away this time
no harm, no foul, no crime
officially done.
but that's not how it was supposed to be.
With curtains drawn
I greet the dawn
and the clock ticks quietly.
We were meant to be each other's friend
we weren't supposed to even see the day.
Around the bend
I guess it had to end

I shared a lifetime in your eyes

I blame it all on fate

I'll walk away this time
no harm, no foul, no crime
officially done.
