Officially Done

I've lived a lifetime in your smiles
but that's not how it was supposed to be.

With curtains drawn
I greet the dawn

and the clock ticks quietly.

We were meant to be each other's friend
we weren't supposed to even see the day.

Around the bend
I guess it had to end

given all you had to say.

I shared a lifetime in your eyes
the fire's out but the hearth's so warm.

I blame it all on fate
we shouldn't have to wait

in any shape or any form.

The aftermath just makes me sick
it's even more than fate aught to allow.

Talk down to me
and I'll set you free

I don't feel sorry for you now.

I shared a lifetime in your heart
and neither one of us can claim they won.

I'll walk away this time
no harm, no foul, no crime

officially done.

Thanx, Jayne....

...I apologize for only now, responding to you. This was a horrific storm that we went through.....but, I'm happy to report that, when the dust finally settled...we BOTH found that, we still need each other; and that this may have been something we HAD to endure...but, it wasn't powerful enough to destroy "us". We have since overcame, and repaired ANY harm that came our way, through these "outside sources", if you will. I'm quite aware of the pain that "glowed" throuout this piece...and I'm grateful that it "translated" so well, to the page. You felt it, and I'm very grateful for your comment.....because it's important for me to know that it was conveyed. You are STILL, a diamond to my eye ! "Write on"! sincerely, #{:-{)}8==== docmaverick.
