Made me a tear

MADE ME A TEAR ( Mona's tear, to Mona)

she made me a tear of silver

a tear to share

a tear that didn't care

who knew

that love was still and near

and close to you

a tear that like the one's of Mary

Christ's only mother

we are told

that tear fashioned

on the marble sculptures of Carrara

white

and old

it drops

like magic dripping wells

into the chasms of our souls

and there alights

to make us

feel

feel what

the zeal of love's appeal

and cupping it

in our red hearts

we sense the flow

of life it's arts

it senses animate

the skys of heaven

wings and gusts of scented air

flow past and lift the tiny hairs

upon our cheeks

those senses far too fine to fence

in our pretence

of grief

but fold into our

strong belief.

Speaking of crafted

Speaking of crafted, if you have ever been to Italy and perhaps wandered along the small streets of, for instance, Lucca, there you will see the craftsmen in their long narrow shops, their work tools all around them decoratively on the walls, in the electric lights creating their hand crafted stucco picture frames, furniture, whatever it is they do. In Carrara their marble sculptures with the details like that of the tear, is so perfectly cut that it looks real. Yes those craftsmen of the past, where the family members follow their forefathers, have developed such prowess of craftsmanship that we are in awe of its quality; and in the same way that culinary craft of making food taste delicious, renewed, yet practised by the same continuation of traditional methods of cooking, they are masters of the art in Italy, but also in other parts of the world. Our craft of poetry also has its traditions and the passing on of our expressions in writing are worthy of repetition albeit in other themes. Not comparing myself to any such, and yet if I do manage to write a verse that has the 'scent' of my own forefathers then I am happy indeed. We owe much to them, even in our rebellion against their fuddy duddy old fashioned ideas!!!! I think so, and if here I have made something of worth to you Lonnie, then I thank them for paving the way. Thank you too for your kind comment, love Ann of Norway. P.S. Another, this time a row of tears, one sees in Roman Catholic statues of Madonna's their tears depicted as a string of beads, so poignant and powerful a metaphor- the rosary.

Dear Margaret Ann,

This poem has great flow. And the wording is finely fashioned. The line, "that tear that fashioned" could drop the second "that". And the line, "into the chasms of our souls," is too cliché to follow the wonderful lead in, "on the marble sculptures of Carrara/ white/ and old/ it drops". Perhaps something like, "into the vargaries of our chasms". You have lots of invention in you, so this idea is just to help get the yeast wet. Very good work. Brian P.S. Love the new photo!

Tear

Ann WoW glorious my dear friend. Just beautiful I could see the marvellous sculpture seeing a pearlessence tear ready to fall of over the soft marble bringing it to life. I see the stone and the sculpture hidden with in waiting to be set free by hands that mould with such tenderness and vision. Electric Blue
