Under The Baobab Tree

A beautiful sundown,
Conjures an orange haze,
Over the shanty town,
And a crescent moon ablaze.

Strolling upon reddish ground,
Aimlessly down the lane,
Crime and grime's renowned,
Yet usual, always the same.

A silent call, a whispery cry,
I turn to face, I look to see,
Before my eyes, spiralling high,
A glorious Baobab Tree.

Big, tall, majestic and wise,
It's bark a copperish-brown,
The most enchanting sight to kiss my eyes,
Landed here upside-down.

Under the regal Baobab Tree,
Following my surprise,
I see a man watching me,
Trying to catch my eyes.

I look at him,
He looks at me,
I want him,
He wants me,
And we instantly attract.

We're in heaven.

Tall, dark and beautifully fine,
His skin a copperish-brown,
An enchanting feeling kisses my spine,
He turns me upside-down.

We're in heaven.

As the night falls,
Flowers begin to bloom,
I no longer hear his calls,
And then wake up in my room.

We're no longer in heaven.

Hey

Hey, Thank you for your comments! I have to be honest, I am not totally happy with this poem either and I know I definately need to work on it more. You are totally right about capturing it's majesty a lot more and I will really try harder to do that! Once again, Thank you, Joel
