a baby's imagination

tis no wonder the eye is drunk easily in slumber
the mighty world is still but a little wonder
weep! weep! man weep for what ye can never be
though you were once but innocense is flown from thee

a drowsey blinks is all that it takes to subdue
the todler, like fresh water also known as the dew
a poor depiction it seems you have, but free!
from gaping visions that will never let me be

shallow images that pester not your vaugue fascination
and a newlyborn brain is nothing of a fowl imagination
but thoughts of money and fame and scam!
has earth thicker than the chitin of a ram

the dreaded world is unravelled into such innocense
and a childs eye is as well a needle, recompense!
this cyclic speedy universe ever can it happen
or a blown man be sapped and washed to kindergerten

2
i have never known peace within or without
since the days i became a rougue and tout
my mind is rising like a stormy wave,o child!
come back to me with a temperament so mild

my blood is a tempest of turmoil that is never calm
my sweat is turgid like oil from an olive palm
the brain is more calculative than it can bear
now that i know my right from my rear

i have never grown though i well have aged
now violent like a lion for years that is caged
when i tighten my eyes there comes a sudden picture!
of disgrace and defeat and a vulgar world impure

i rue and curse with my last breath
till an illness brings to me my very own death
then sleeping maybe i can feel again
the gentle things of a childs calm brain
