Empty Bottle

Empty Bottle,
A bare emerald glaze,
Empty Bottle,
Only full in thoughtful ways,
Once full,
Full of wine,
Full of life,
Full of soul,
Full of expectation.

Empty Bottle,
Only a few last drops remain,
A few last drops of hope,
Hope that you'll heal the pain,
And wash me out,
Replenish my Earth like the rain.

Empty Bottle,
I hoped you would drown my sorrows,
And help me cope with shit,
Instead you left me empty,
Just like you,
With just a few drops left,
Barely enough to take a breath.

Empty Bottle,
Ain't just empty,
You're deep and dark, like a black hole,
Empty Bottle,
Ain't just empty,
You're a mirror image of my soul.

I rather liked this,

sort of a no frills look into alcohol abuse. You worked that metaphor well. It was one too many "full of"'s in stanza 1 for me. The meter and rhyme combination struck me as a little odd. To me it had a "bouncy" feel, at odds with the demoralized content.

I liked it...

Hitting the bottle's not the answer, but sometimes it helps, just not too much of the comfort juice... I have to admit though, when my bottles half full, at times to me, it's half empty...not always but, oh well, no ones perfect. Rosina xena465
