Smashed within my glass heart

It was when the bowl
smashed,
and my hands slackened

I knew

lips were moving
a throat was talking nothing
and my eyes were seeing
what my ears could not follow

the ties that bound
had been cut

as each piece of glass
shattered into moments
of every second we shared,
a ripple went through
the tableau of my life

changing its geography
forever

my blood pours to smash
chambers of memories
and as the cymbals of your life
clash its finale

your arms are lost
and out of my reach

the knot unbinds

that first touch
the one that said no matter what?
is now sleeping
where no shadows fall

Seren you touch me with your poetry..I feel..I hear..I see what of you write.. It is so tender and so meaningful. This one is great my lady. Have you written a book that I may purchase as I have this connection to your words like I do to Anna from Norway. A vivid picture in my mind as I read this one. I do hope you are feeling better everyday and your picture is beautiful if only in color, your eyes are the eyes of a beautfiul woman, Your face so tender as your heart and yes the toughness comes through also. Have you ever modeled before? You should you got that beautiful face my friend. Much love sent your way and health to heal you. Much prayer also Ms Mona

Hi Seren

The first few stanzas were very descriptly written but somehow seemed removed from you ( possibly intentional )and were it not for the last stanza that grabbed you into full emotive response I would not have known it was yours. If this loss is a recent one I would say subconciously you have not yet accepted the passing. I am loving the freedom you are finding in the balance of the blocks of words. Hugs Seabhac

Hi Jayne

Can't think clear with this house full here so I realised my reply may have seemed strangely put. I am very sorry for the loss and sadness you must be feeling and I understood why I felt it was not you , it was grief there, which responds to words in a different way and I could understand that when you told me how recent this sad event was. I have this vivid image in my head of the glass bowl dropping and shattering as in a slow motion and it has followed me for the last 24 hours...strength of your imagery. You have a wonderful distinctive style of writing like an artist who paints but you are growing at such a rate that you take me by surprise. I am in awe of your dynamic drive. Seabhac

a ripple went through the tableau of my life...

To protect myself from what I might feel if the unthinkable should ever happen to me, I imagine my son's death. Morbid, I know, but the opposite of, "it could never happen to me" and so I think it, I get ready for it. Your images are descriptive of every truth there is in losing a loved one. I hope I never have to write this; thinking it, reading it, is unbearable enough. Still, I thank you. Lisa

You feel the emotion and the

You feel the emotion, and the power in the writing, and you are moved. Thats what it's all about. Reaching out with words. Giving your deepest experiences of life. Reaching into other hearts, and bonding through the expression, and so we all carry a little of you within. A tragic personal experience at the death of a loved one is my read. The emotional trama of the "snapshot" moment in time that changes your life forever. Opinions: The poem flows very well off the tounge; nice cadence, and rythem with economy, and emphisis nicely placed. A few areas for your consideration: I think as a title; simply "glass heart" says it all Line 1 when the bowl line 11 as each glass piece seventh stanza line 1 My blood pouring to smashed brings to preasant tense ( more vivid ) wow, really expresses how I feel about your poetic acomplishments. I know you worked very hard on your art to get to this point Jayne and you are an inspiration to all the poets who have watched your evolution into the acomplished poet you have become.I know whatever you set your heart on you will achieve. Dear Barry

I appreciate you having a look at this one and down the track I will be doing a small edit will keep all your suggestions in mind(just all too raw at the moment) ... the title is how its going to stay ... there is a more personal meaning than normal in the title ... my uncle used to say something similiar its only right that the title be his own words its for him and his children im planning to give it to them down the track sometime thanks again much love Jayne x x

Glass heart...

It is easy to see what is in your heart. Your heart is transparent, it pours from between your fingers like a strong light shows around the edges of a door. We see the bond between you and a favorite uncle. As long as someone remembers.... ~ sorry for your loss, love and hugs, ~ Gee

On a roll...

Oh Jayne... you are on a roll (no not a ham one!) here this flow much like your pervious one... with each moment in time shattered with its fall as the glass is scattered. But it does cut deep into memory. The final part where the binding ties of the world unknot and the spirit is released into the shadowless realm is flabbergasting... and makes you close you eyes and see the light. A great tribute to someone I suspect (although I don't know who!?) and I think they would stand proud and shine a ethereal light down on you for such a write. Excellent again! Dale :)

Dear Dale

this ones to my uncle Charlie who passed on monday we buried him today ... so i think you so much for your kind comment he was a WW2 vet and he was much loved the church was overflowing and there were people standing outside he was very much loved and we will all miss him ... he and his wife babysat me from when i was very young and they were people that helped shaped who I am .. it was only fitting that I wrote this but I plan to write a celebration of his life down the road when the wounds not so fresh I appreciated your comment so much, especially this evening ... (hugz) and much love Jayne x x x

a breath of wind and yet a leaden weight

Her I come falloloping along too late and yet not to late to comment. I second dear Mona' sentiments as among other things you are beautiful I agree. And that kind of beauty can never fade, its there in your eyes described. The plunge of death a breath of wind and yet a leaden weight weighs down our feelings as we hear and see the person loved speak in our hearts, it takes away our breath and leaves us saddened, helpless. limp, and as you say time heals, and yet the memory never fades of joys and happy moments. Your poem describes this so well dear empathetic Jayne, you have loved well and been loved for this I'm sure, if not you deserve our love and more. Ann sends her love to you Jayne and the family too.
