A nite to remember 2010

Stay at home

Relax,

Be with your family,

Enjoy a special meal together

With elderly parents

And your siblings

Have a home get-together

Either share expenses in cash

Or ask each one to bring in

A cooked meal, drinks, ice creams

And

You will see the money

You would be paying

To restaurants and other places

As also going out in taxis, cars

And in the cold minus 17 degrees

Will be worth it

As the nite sings in

With all your kith and kin together

Make 2010 a beginning

With a different note,

Eat dance and drink with your own

Let recession be forgotten on 2010

Let it be a first new nite.

I like the cozy, family feel

I like the cozy, family feel of this one. only issue I have is that it seems to be dictating to people what to do. You could always tell a story about a family that did that, mentioning the money they saved and how wonderful the Xmas and new Years feeling was of being together and not having to brave the cold outside. Really play up the warmth of family and friendship and love. Of course, that would mean you'd have to change your title too but you can do that accordingly to how the poem itself might be rewritten. One more thing: use punctuation and capitalization as you normally would. Makes it easier to read the poem. Peace
