Grumpy Guy
I have never ceased to smile ever since he died,
critics may find this statement inappropriate, but its questionable why?
The three of us grew up together but there was one really grumpy guy.
We would crack jokes with each other; looking to see if he would smile for a while.
He would laugh and it would almost instantly die.
Damn! This was one grumpy guy.
He fell terribly ill last July,
I drove him to the hospital for fear that he would die.
Surely I never expected to say good bye
Nevertheless, things do happen in July
Our friend knew not how near he was to flat line
Nor did we, before the news of his decline.
I looked down at his face and was sure I could find,
A smile even bigger than mine.
