When touch outweighs words

It is not that you,As man,Have fault in speech.I, as woman,Have forgotten how to listen. Words play an infinitesimal part. The hands listen in their touchTight muscles, stressed body. They obtain the lead to questionWith soft tipped fingers. The lips not yet understanding whyShould wait to speakEyes explore beyond the painOf silent wall and catch open viewTo trembling shadowsThat needed wordless embrace. TouchFor when touch is lostNo words will find the wayThrough perfidy wildernessNo action can carryThe weight of tactile touch

Dear Elizabeth,

The humility in the first stanza is a great opening into this poem. The whole poem is laden with good ideas. There are a few rough edges but I really like so much here: "the hands listen". Elizabeth, I do hope you are having a wonderful Christmas and that it will be followed by a terrific new year! Brian

Thanks Brian

Hope you both are having a lovely Christmas time, Hogmany for us is just around the corner. I am not so fearful now to post a poem in its raw state and work from there, it can be isolating working on words and sharing on Neo has been a way to party and open up discussion and share, it takes a little getting used to though and any help with tweaks are very gratefully recieved. Best Wishes Seabhac

You are correct Jayne

There is even a specific word for it that eludes me at the moment. I find this with my felt work...some one in another continent can come up with the same idea at the same time...it is a little unnerving but yes universal thought patterns are a certainty...Oh hell I am going to not just have to watch my mouth here but my thoughts as well...arghhhh Happy Hogmany to you on this still snowing St Stephens day Seabhac
