A Shadow of a Whisper Concerning Envy

The Book of Whispers shares it's heart
and mind on this one sin,
every time it rears it's ugly head
a green-eyed beast is born within.

Coveting is a finer way
of referring to this ghoul,
dealing with it's a different thing
and not a thing taught in school.

Begrudging someone's lot in life
or wishing it had happened to you's not nice,
but the other side of Envy is, Jealousy
it's a double whammy that'll zap you, twice !

Envy versus jealousy
there are two sides to all coins,
and when either one saturates your spirit
you feel it all the way down to your loins.

There's nothing good that can come from
a green-eyed spirit, or soul...
it's a defect of personal character
and on everyone it takes it's toll.

It eats at you from the inside out
resulting in a hollowed out heart,
one's best bet would be to steer very clear
and not allow envy or jealousy to even start.
