When I'm an old Lady....

When I'm an old Lady..I'll live with each kid,
and bring so much happiness...just as they did
I want to pay back all the joy they've provided,
Returning each deed..oh I'm so excited!
When I'm an old lady and live with my kids..

I'll write on their walls with reds, whites and blues,
and bounce on the furniture wearing my shoes
I'll drink from the carton and leave it out
I'll stop up  the toilets and oh how they'll shout!
when I'm an old lady and live with my kids

When they're on the phone and just out of reach,
I'll get into things like sugar and bleach,
Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head,
and when that is done , I'll hide under the bed!
When I'm an old lady and live with my kids

When they cook dinner and call me to eat
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat,
I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table
and when they get angry, I'll run if I'm able..
When I'm an old lady and live with my kids

I'll sit close to the TV, through the channels I'll click,
I'll cross both my eyes, just to see if they stick
I'll take off my socks and throw one away,
and play in the mud "til the end  of the day...
When I'm an old lady and live with my kids

and later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh,
I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes,
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
and say with a groan.."shes so sweet..when she's sleeping!"
When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.

Poem

Wow .. I really love the rythym of your poem. And the way its so equivocal if you look into it a little deeper =) really nice job.

Paybacks are a bitch. I

Paybacks are a bitch. I adore this poem, Lady Antoinette Mari.... It's the comic equivalent of this wonderful poem: WHEN I AM AN OLD WOMAN I SHALL WEAR PURPLE With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain And pick the flowers in other people's gardens And learn to spit You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat And eat three pounds of sausages at a go Or only bread and pickle for a week And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes But now we must have clothes that keep us dry And pay our rent and not swear in the street And set a good example for the children. We must have friends to dinner and read the papers. But maybe I ought to practice a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple. Taken from the book When I Am An Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple Edited by Sandra Martz Papier Mache Press--Watsonville, California 1987

Verbage....

...is the usage of verbs, I believe. If I'm wrong, then pardon my nounage ! l.o.l. Whatever.....I must say, that I too, enjoyed the flow and rythm of this piece. A fine job, you did, and I'll tell it to the world ! "Write on"! sincerely, #{:-{)}8==== docmaverick.

Verbiage....Barbara, (although I spelled it incorrectly) means..

to Chat...or speak...a way of expressing ones's self, not necessarily with Verbs, just the way you express yourself...I appreciated you comments, in otherwords....and for Doc...there is no such word a nounage... but thanks for your comments also!!LOL!!

Verbage-Verbiage

I look the word up in my Microsoft word reference and saw the word verbiage. I have made past mistakes by assuming someone misspelled a word when it was actually correct from their geological area. thanks for explaining it. I try really hard to express myself in a constructive manner though sometimes I fall short. ~~~~~~~~~ Be whoever you are At all times, and Remember that Because of this, people will Always Respect, and Admire you ©2008Leonard Respectfully Yours, Barbara

Wow Antoinette

Just love it and will share this with my mother, she will get a good laugh of it as that is what us kids did too. It is so smart and genuine your poem when I live with my kids and little did I know that Poet Doc is your son. I can see now who he takes after that wonderful son of yours. Let's just hope he is still not drinking from the mill carton LOL SO nice to meet a nice woman on here and a lovely writer. Please continue your writing, I love it. Love Mona Marie Magics02 xoxoxo TIME well spent is TIME well lived
