JASMINE JOHANSSEN? BAH! HUMBUG!

JASMINE JOHANSSEN

Jasmine Johanssen loved singin’ and dancin’

And playing piano with style.

She made so much noise that she scared all the boys

When they saw her they’d run for a mile

Jasmine was eight and would stand tall and straight,

She never would slouch in a chair.

She would practise her ballet around the back alley

For her folks had no money to spare.

Now one fateful day, she heard her father say;

“The Pantomime season is off.”

“The star”, says the paper, “with throat like sandpaper

Just cannot sing, for a bad cough.”

Jasmine snuck out the door and ran down to the store,

Where she borrowed a pair of dance shoes;

Caught a cab to the show, ran in the stage door,

Yelling “Try me - you’ve nothing to lose!”

So the kid’s pantomime was reprieved (just in time!)

With Jasmine the toast of the town.

She played “Sleeping Beauty”, was such a wee cutie,

Her encores near brought the house down.

So Jasmine Johanssen, by singin’ and dancin’,

Became a stage star and had fun.

Was happy, ever after, with love (and LOUD laughter)

That’s all folks - Merry Christmas - I’m done !!
