My Promise

an unyielding pain in my chest
breath not filling my need for air
throat tightens with waves of regret
brought on by the loss I feel...

you feel the same pain as I
remember we once were in tune
that flowing music has left our ears
and now slowly escapes our hearts...

knowing why we are here
trying to show you that I care,
truths came from different views
time's wounds impinge our ears...

this change is real, I feel it inside,
you trusted me and I failed you.
one thing I do know for sure
I will love you forever just as I promised.

MrRee...

Hello and welcome to the site, first of all, I'd like to congratulate you and your wife for your 30 plus years of being together, and how could two people be together that long and not have some rocky times, ehh. Your poem, center alignment on Neopoet doesn't usually help a poem esthetically, it wraps around the profile picture and offsets the look of the poem. I recommend using left alignment for a more pleasing view. I felt the poem could have been tightened up, taking out a word here and there without hurting the idea presented, but I thought it was a good first post and I thank you for sharing it with us here. good luck, and keep writing Richard

Thank you

I appreciate your input... let's make some revisions and see if this becomes more pleasing to the mind and the eye. Thank you again, Richard
