Let the Sky Drip Stars
How long must we endure the exquisite
pain of fallen leaves, a crimson carpet
left for mankind to trample underfoot,
subjects of fickle winds and governments?
Dare I face down another riled winter
without bottles of Monster Energy™?
My back bows under invisible weights
whilst ice storms work out their primal urges.
Why labor to avoid the edge of night,
beauty beyond animal existence?
Let the sky drip stars like cream cheese frosting,
the sun carve shadows in the fading day.
My enemy stalks me dressed in disguise,
hiding motives behind glasses and words,
emptied of all forward looking meaning.
The face in the rearview mirror is mine.
