on the dangers of boys in stovepipes

.
she stands at the corner
rigid as a tuning fork,
tense and twanging in still form.
her hair jumps from her scalp
like odd and abrupt thoughts-
her mouth,
a scarlet slash
that tightens below a gaze
stretching to infinity.
she hitches her low slung jeans
a little higher over jutting hips
and pulls her jacket closer.

last night,
under his electric mouth,
when pumping hips
kept time with pounding music,
and the lights behind her eyes
proved her mother wrong-
(bad boys ARE good-
so very, very,
good)-
she thought him mystical,
lyrical.

***

the palid dawn brought with her
the chill of early morning and
the painful colour of clarity.
James Dean couldn't have felt more alone
on his boulevard of broken dreams.

Downturned / Upturned

hold the head down examining boot tips shoe edges and cracked sidewalk canyons think of mamma turn up the collar burning bright in heats stride racing ahead of all instant dreams like Neon come daybreak Pleides somewhere sometime i saw a face in a tapestry of sunshine i heard of a voice in the tempest of steady drizzle felt the hand upon my forearm and looked into depths where sunshine was welcomed and yet was timid for me these are your words you write

Dear pleiades,

Terrific images, excellent low-high-low plot, magnificently erotic narrative. This is a wonderful poem. Brian

Dearest P. I ve read this I think a long time ago and I am so happy to have the opportunity to read it again. You are a amazing woman and your writing is interesting, sensual, yes, perfect in so many ways. Your word choices and your way of building the structure and form of a poem is so very very good.. true and beautiful poetry it is and a joy to read. much Love to you and let me wish you a beautiful Christmas. There is snow on the way here they say and the temperature are suppose to drop to - 30 C. I love snow at Christmas so I feel quite excited about it. snow kisses .. and ooops.. almost forgot.. congratulations to the spotlight !! I was so happy to see your poem there and hope it stays for a long time.. o molly

dear o m, how great to see

dear o m, how great to see you again! i've been absent for a while, and on and off in between (just life...very busy) things are still crazy busy, but a little less so, so hopefully i'll be able to spend some time here. you are so kind to me with your words...i don't think i deserve such high praise, but i'll take it! christmas here is going to be HOT!!! already, we have had days where it's too hot to even move...i had a couple of white christmases when i lived in england, and i remember thinking it was like a wonderland...just like from the movies i used to watch as a child on a saturday afternoon. i envy you your snow at christmas, although an aussie summer christmas has its own charm...heat and all! and a beautiful christmas to you too my lovely friend... summer kisses...

Hi There, Pleiades

Just stumbled on this on my way through. How wonderful. At first I thought it erotica, but there is so much more. Yes, the bad boys do seem so good at times, until we come to our senses (almost always too late), mystical, lyrical, yeah, right. Then the James Dean connection added another layer. I'm pretty sure my hair jumps from my scalp in odd and abrupt thoughts often. How fun (yet serious) this poem is. Yours, Deelilah

how have I missed you?

this is bloody brilliant, and you know? You make me feel it from both sides. Cheers, Jess, Reprehensibly irrepressible, "the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind." [Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged]
