catch a breeze

Seventeen messages
cannot be parted

Should we write them onto paper strips,
tie them by coloured cotton
from a Christmas tree?

Open a window
catch a breeze, so
move to dance these leaves of gifting,
sending letters to the world?

Released, as prayers from Mani stones
at trails turn,
high upon a mountain side.

So, drifting clouds will kiss
and softly dress
these untrod peaks, these moonlit walks.

Dear Seren

thank you for your kind thoughts, your kind regards. It is as Molly says, she spoke to me of this idea and made me think of the Tibetan prayer wheels and prayer stones, and of course their prayer flags. I just love the idea of carving prayers in stone or on wheels, so that when you touch them or turn them the prayers are released, or writing them on flags for the wind to take, so wonderful. Regards and love to you Jayne Craig.

Yes and Yes !! and it would

Yes and Yes !! and it would be a beautiful miracle quite outside the natural order of things.. I so love the thought of it and I had this idea of a poetry tree for Christmas with words and lovely sentences written in artful letters and now you have added to the idea and I will just open the window and let all the words fly out of the window and they will fly to the meadows and mountains and dance and kiss and do somersaults and saltomortals and everything .. and..you are a wonderful wonderful poet dearest Craig. Every letter that composes your name, I pronounce before I fall asleep at night. Every letter darling.... love. o molly

Yes and Yes

it would be so nice to do this Molly, it's a beautiful idea, and harkens back, for me at least, to times when people gave offerings to the world around them, how much we need that now. Between these twigs I weave a dream catcher in threads of red and black and gold perhaps I shall be lucky perhaps my dream will come. love and love. Craig

Craig,

an exceptional beginning, and a strong end. One of your best to date, I think. What indeed are we to do with all our words? (All the letters, written or unwritten, all the poems, treasured or shamefully hidden away...) Yours, ~Nina

Dear Nina

yes, I'm not sure how it came about, but I have always had a deep love for words, for language, I try to treat spoken and written words with respect, and admit to a certain amount of frustration with those who show little regard for the power and beauty that they contain. Hope things are well with you, thanks for the comments and all the best to you and yours for Xmas. cheers Craig
