Becca's Eyes

I wake up and find

that a few aches and pains

have followed me into the new day

a stiff joint, an odd discomfort

from origins unknown

I try to connect the malady

with, perhaps, the foolish exertion

from the day before

that may have birthed it

Still, I am grateful

for the parts of my body - entities really

that give me no trouble this day

thankful that they allow me to be here

to kiss you again at the first morning light

and find the blue smile in Becca’s young eyes

Michael Anthony!

What a paradoxical merger! Your ailing body with the spirited health and youth of Becca's smiling young eyes! Tis good to juxtapose such concepts to highlight each! Grammatically, how about changing "and find" to "to find"? Somehow more dramatic! Nifty little piece! Best Boni

Much better!

Hi B, Thanks for the great edit suggestion. I think it works better too! Thanks, as always, for the continued encouragement. Best Mike
