CRIPPLING LOVE
CRIPPLING LOVE Your affection is not in doubtI see it written all over your faceOf all the good people, you chose meWhat can I say, but to thank you? In return I give the best I canYou led me into your troubled soulThe shaman sets to restore hopeAnd wiped away your silent tears Since we met, nothing seems to workPeople call you all sorts of namesAnd query everything you do and sayI see their points, but I give a blind eye You have made huge sacrificesTo keep the association goingYou monitor my every moveTo be sure none competes with you I have learnt from you, many thingsEven the art of querulous jealousyAlong with spasmodic bursts of angerAnd these I do not like at all Listening to the songs in the talesAs I walk through the labyrinthOf unfulfilled pledges and promisesThese cripple my ability and strength Most disturbing, in all these thingsI ask myself for umpteenth timesThis empire, built with packs of cardsWill it stand, when the wind blows?
