witnessing the page/revised

i.

they tied her to a chair,
the witness lied
said the persecution
the needle of truth
they poked and prodded
until they found her vein of reference
chapter verse
personified,

the poet,
never silenced.

the day
not yet begun.

ii.

imbued with streaks of silver tongue
and double indemnity,
helix and fading halo
a two-headed serpent

vanity
wrinkles the brow,

flattery raises the pen
and breaks the display
like bulls in a Pamplona tea shoppe
like a mutt biting his own leg
for fear of losing his chew-bone

iii.

where oh where
is my Peter Pan?

I'm willing to sew on his shadow
and let him eat crow.

Inside my mind…how I write

Inside my mind...how I write poetry... The first line was an image I had yesterday, channel flipping, I watched a bit of some sci-fi stuff and the 2003 version of Peter Pan.... and then of course, the crux, Prof's poem "Vanity" and my ongoing fascination with poets ever chastising one another for their thoughts instead of using them for fodder...writing poetry. This poem may not win an awards, make spotlight or any such thing, but it sure beats the hell out of writing nothing. ;-) Have a good day Neopoets. No matter what happens remember the sun is always shining. ~A p.s. I almost forgot the best part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O15DXv3Vwg (Dog bites his own leg.) Better than nothing means

Better than nothing means that it's something, eh? Smile. ~A "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

Dearest Mum

You have got that right ... writing something is better than nothing ... 99% of my poems are crap ... the rest are sometimes I think pure luck lol ... but I love to write and if the arent in spotlight I dont give a toss, spotlight as others have said ... is not always a mark of the best ... there is a huge difference I found between great poetry and popular poetry ... I loved this poem ... simply the last bit caught my heart I have every movie ever made about peter pan ... lol bet that doesnt surprise you lol (huggles) hope you had a good sleep love and hugs Jayne x x x

Me too. It’s a decision

Me too. It's a decision that every child makes unconsciously and slowly-evolving--to *grow up* and live within society's *norms*. I am & am not *society's child*. ;-) I hope everyone got the last lines. It was *I* who sewed on the Pan's shadow. I didn't sew back on to Peter. Also the *let him eat crow* is a twist on the *let them eat cake* (a fallacy btw) and that Peter won in my case. I won't grow up though I may grow old, so he does have something to crow about. So that's about it. There's quite a bit of subtle anti-society threads woven in. Thanks darling, Mum. Dear Anna

My poem about Vanity did not of course have anything to do with poets but proud dependence upon the power of superficial beauty lol. But of course you are right that what is important is to write and, in doing so, learn how to improve. Flattery is very often deceptive and rather too easily dished out in the hope of reciprocity or some other advantage. The secret though will always be to be your own toughest critic. Really enjoyed the poem of course, although catching up with Peter Pan might be more of a frustration than a boon....as even Tinkerbell often found, let alone us mere ageing mortals lol. Anyone for a food fight then? Keith

Wasn’t it the President

Wasn't it the President Sarkozy that tasted a pie in February last year? I'd better not give any ideas.... ~A "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

Hey Prof, vanity by any

Hey Prof, vanity by any other name.............. lol. Some folks thrive on flattery, some folks are embarrassed, and there is a happiness found in enjoying the moment. As everyone knows, nothing lasts forever. Thanks for reading Prof & I am pleased you enjoyed my poem. I'm not so much into food fights,(though I've lived through enough). I'd rather lick some tastes off a Lover. Speaking of being unwilling to age. ;-) ~A "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

I revised the above poem at

I revised the above poem at H.E. Mantel's (Haro/Halola) suggestion. He was a poet here, posting some awesome, perhaps *fringe* (haha) poetry. Few recognized his gift, though he has been published in dozens of places; thankfully, we maintain our friendship. Every one can use some help, some judicious editing. My original bulls in a china shop WAS very cliched, but didn't deal with it until H.E. brought it to my attention with the above suggestion. THANK YOU H.E. Mantel. That's what friends are for. http://eyeonlife.squarespace.com/the-poetry-locksmith/he-mantelharohalola-featured-poet-december-5th-2009.html Cheers and cheerios, Anna "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha
