Dingo Tracks

Having seen an endless hall
doors either side,
I wandered,
a white dingo
joined me
at magnolia runners end

my blood turned to take flight
his fangs crept to
a grimace
as he leaps

Now,
with paws on my shoulders
he laps
from the river coursing
my face

I release what I thought
were exclamations
of a beginning
enlightenment
and brush to cross the fire
searing within my flesh

his mouth took my hand
leading me to the first
of many doors

this is my totem
the path I shall follow
this is just the beginning

my hand rests in destiny's
soft white coat
stilled

What can I say, Jayne? The white Buffalo, the white dingo and the Great Blue Heron? We all have our totems, I'm so pleased you found yours. Bless you. Mum p.s. leap... as he leaps "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

Dearest Mum

I used to live on the north coast of NSW and we lived a little inland ... it was out in the bush and every now and then we had a albino dingo visit ... he was always hungry, we were in a bad drought back then ... the surrounding farmers got pissed off at me but once they realised I was feeding him enough and he wasnt culling their stock lol they backed off ... I actually patted him and he closed his eyes as if he was scared I was going to hurt him ... to this day when he opened them the look in his eyes I cannot explain it ... the other night I wrote this one after he came to me in a dream lol so I guess i did find my totem and it felt right ... and I will fix that mistake now didnt notice it in the edit thanks for pointing it out ... love and hugs Jayne x x

What a wonderful story to

What a wonderful story to accompany your poem, Jayne. Your sensitivity and compassion are great teachers, then and now. I'm reminded of the story of the two wolves. Native Wisdom A Grandfather from the Cherokee Nation was talking with his grandson. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight between two wolves." The young grandson listened intently. "One wolf is evil, unhappy, and ugly: He is anger, envy, war, greed, selfishness, sorrow, regret, guilt, resentment, inferiority/superiority, false pride, coarseness, and arrogance. He spreads lies, deceit, fear, hatred, blame, scarcity, poverty, and divisiveness." "The other wolf is beautiful and good: He is friendly, joyful, loving, worthy, serene, humble, kind, benevolent, just, fair, empathetic, generous, honest, compassionate, grateful, brave, and inspiring resting wholeheartedly in deep vision beyond ordinary wisdom." The grandson paused in deep reflection of what his grandfather had just said. Then he exclaimed; "Oyee! (in recognition). Grandfather continued; "This same fight is going on inside you, and inside all human beings as well." The grandson paused in deep reflection and recognition of what his grandfather had just said. Then he finally cried out deeply; "Oyee! Grandfather, which wolf will win this horrific war?" The elder Cherokee replied, "The wolf that you feed. That wolf will surely win!" Bless you my daughter. mum "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

Yum! Nothing like 2 a.m. chocolate fudge with cream. Unless (ok kids close your eyes) it's you-know-what. ;-) Hugs, Mum p.s. For clarification: that is an ancient Native American Wisdom story... not of *my* telling, just its re-telling. White Dogs...

I just didn't get the line: [and brush to cross the fire searing within my flesh] The rest of it was very clear to me. Ya know, it's somewhat strange, but my son Spencer and I have always had very strong bonds with white dogs, throughout our lives. Our friends and family have had a number of white dogs, and they all seem to like Spencer and I more than anyone else. There was one white Pitbull, but all the rest were Shepard-types. Not dingos, but...Anyways, I thought it a very nice dream. The dog is my totem, {no matter color]. ~ Gee
