Faith's Story

Starry-eyed child full of dream and delight,

Same yesterday, today, and tomorrow—

When did morning turn to dusk, then mid-night,

Mirror’s reflection but wilted flower?

Who claims this face, crumbling with age?

Do not be confused by what eyes can see—

Run free with the lion; escape the cage;

Life’s a rumor about what will next be.

Faith’s story: what you say is what you are.

Travel the unknown to places unseen;

Hitch the heart’s heart to that far-flying star;

Soar above mountains where you have not been.

Look through the dark glass to find your true face.

Unburdened child awaits now His embrace.

hello Deelilah

It seems a sad yet enchanted tale, yet there is a sense of hopefulness about it. I liked the theme very much. These are my favorite lines: When did morning turn to dusk, then mid-night, Mirror’s reflection but wilted flower? Who claims this face, crumbling with age? Always, Cat

Hi Cat

You're right---there is a little sadness in letting go of this lifetime; but hope for the next lifetime. And there's that nagging reminder in the mirror again. Thanks for the visit and the comment. Yours, Deelilah

Deelilah

Here I am, 4:45 AM on the dark side of Earth, can't sleep, work-smothered and brain-drained, with the music of Spock's Beard (heavy HEAVY progressive) pounding in my ears, reading this and realizing that its me. I was living so fast I forgot I was moving on, before I finally drew a breath, looked back and said "shit, where did all THAT go? Yeah baby, this is one powerful piece. Thanks, Jim

Yeah, that's exactly what happened. One day I woke up and more was behind me than is ahead of me, I think. Who knows what modern miracles are coming? It might interest you to know that the lion refers to Christ and 'looking through a glass darkly' is scripture. Thanks for the high marks, my friend. Deelilah
