Perpetual Tears

 Perpetual Tears

 No, she's not alone
 Seldom is that possible
Not in these woods she calls home
 The others are always close
The others cannot fill the void

Raising her head to the sky
 She releases a soulful wail
As it echos across the valley
 She desperately listens for response
 None is forthcoming

Yet again, alone within the pack
 Needing the closeness
 That he alone can give..
 Maybe come the dawn
 After the nights perpetual tears.

hello again

How about the word breathless? This describes my condition while I read your poem. I was drawn in on the first line. So very sad. I love wolves. Always, Cat

Hi Cat, Anyone that

Hi Cat, Anyone that loves wolves is a friend of mine. Magical critters, aren't they? I'm glad you enjoyed this poem. It's an older one of mine. I'm going through a bit of a block at the moment, but, thought I'd make an appearance, since it has been a while. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond. much appreciated. Sue

Perpetual

Very intuitive. You've captured the great sadness of being an outsider among your own kind.

Hi Sue...

I too like the comparison of wolf and pack, after all, we are social creatures as well... the lonely wail of the wolf's call is ancient music sharply melodic and mellowing. Glad to see you here Sue. Richard

Hi Richard, It was nice to see your response to this piece. Wolves have long been a love of mine, and I agree with you regarding their wail. Chilling and exciting. If hearing that howling doesn't touch you somewhere, you're not truly alive. Thanks for your post Richard. It's greatly appreciated. Sue
