Ailsa Craig

Breast of hidden depthIn watery bed of teaming lifeIn scores they perchAtop your craggy rivuletsStretched marked gulliesGuano filled ready for new lifeThe incessant squawkOf fluttered wingIn reinvented ritualKeeping trespassers awayWith acrobatic swoopsYou claim the rock as your ownNegating all other contractsReliant on the heartfelt softnessOf those who know your past andYearn for your continued future.

Dear Elizabeth,

A soft, wrigglingly warm poem made from water, rock and the testiness of life's touches. You do get missed when you are away too long. Brian

Ailsa Craig

Like the poem, visually braw and well written. I was round the milestone this "summer" on the "Waverley", The gannet formation diving teams put on their usual display. I can see the rock from Greenan castle shore(if it ever stops raining) Kindest Regards Ian T

Thanks Ian for dropping in

I have been enjoying the 'banter' on your famous worst poem. You must have got one of the few good days this summer for your voyage on the Waverley. Watched a friends video documentary recently on the Craig when there were still folk living there...fascinating past and very hopeful future, for the gannets anyway. Best Wishes Seabhac
