THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving is the turning seasoninward, reflective; guilt assuaged yet repentant of lost times - not saying "Thank yous"  intended or enough. what I treasured were the furtive glances behind grateful grins;fingers dipped in sticky sauces, dripping with yummy yuck -deliciously licked off kissable chins.  childrens' voices, squeals of delight -nothing to unwrap but the thrill of giving thanks -  on this special night.Gratefully satiated in the fecundity of

this family, this country, this life... BjR  21 November '09

Dear Boni

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings on this wonderful, meaningful American holiday. This year, Steve and I are celebrating it alone together and much looking forward to the peace of silence. Always, Cat

I still have a smile on my face from reading it. Enjoyed it hug

Hi Bonita, given I am hardly here of late I felt I should come looking at some work from you. I am intrigued by this wonderful celebration (given I have fallen for a man (& his children) who grew up with this tradition). I have to say I agree with your sentiment, we don't have the same ritual here in Aus., but I've always preferred birthday celebrations to Christmas... my best friend calls it like it is "Merry presents". I love the line about no prezzies... Glad this caught my eye, I still have a smile on my face from reading it. Enjoyed it hugely. This weekend I am making pumpkin pie as a token gesture (hardly the same I believe), next year I have promised we will do the whole thing properly ... she says nervously).
