Te'a for One

I could be wrong, but who'll say I'm right
about a young mom that I know
with her hands and plate so freaking full
she's not real sure which way to go.

She tries her best while always sacrificing
but that's par for a single mother
providing "needs" and sometimes "wants"
she's just a mom like any other.

She finally drew the line with him
the hope she had, draining from her eyes
her  "wants" and  "needs" come last you see
so she doesn't see a lot of guys.

Hers is a simple sort of existence
she's pleased with a genuine smile
even though she wouldn't be prepared for one
she still longs to be treasured for a while.

But her fate leads her down a path
that's lined with abusive men
and every time one gets out of line
she finds herself all alone, again.
.
Her silent nature won't complain
for she knows things could be worse
but Te-a's latest string of luck
resembles some kind of evil curse.

I saw a spark in both her eyes
as she visited the other night
I offered words of encouragement
but I'm not so sure they came out, right.

She's simply just the sweetest thing
and deserves to be put at ease
fates been cruel and taken it's toll
of which she's still paying the fees.

She's back to square one, once again
as her desert storm did leave
I don't think it's hit her all the way
because she hasn't had time to grieve.

But, Te'a is learning as she goes
the marks she lives with, erase her youth
sometimes life's lessons seem so hard
but she deserves to know the truth.

Those tears of her abandoned hope
have dried on both her cheeks
she's unaware of relationships
that don't abuse her for several weeks.

But in her tired, quite eyes
she finds solace in the rain
and as life's tears run down the glass
she merely hopes to love again.
