The Morning of Enlightenment

My everyday morning innocence
has left me on this day,
it seems my cock-eyed, haphazard stance
helps make my days turn gray.

I'm not sure where it came from
it kind of suddenly appeared,
I thought my head just might explode
and the gray'd fall from my beard !

I was severely agitated
and my thoughts were wound too tight,
everything seemed to hit me wrong
as if I hadn't slept all night.

But then, by my mid-morning
I had an idea what it was,
I found that I was thinking all wrong
that it wasn't what the day does;

past-tense, future-tense, intensity to boot
one just cannot explain it all away,
I ponder and peruse, most every single night
what it is that fate may bring on the next day.

Well, it hit me like a shot, or a bolt of lightning
fate merely brings the choices, that's a fact;
when one discards what it is, that others do or don't
what's finally left, is how will I.....react !?!

Hi Doc

Reread and reply, sorry it has taken a while, PC probs. I still enjoyed this poem and I am glad to hear you write any time of the day. Great therapy. I find I do it mainly early hours but at the moment with all things going on, I am a bit clouded with it, cannot think, lol, not unusual. LOL. You take care and I will catch you on your next. Love to all, yes, and the cats, lol. Love Lyz. XX
