long lines
i.
by all rights, I should be 6' tall if not seven,
I should have wings on my feet, my god Mercury
at my side to do my bidding
when lust fills the air
and tangibility bites the dust
alas
i am too short on words,
a poet buried
too deep
in the center of a lavender light
and the whippoorwill's call,
between
the scent of Bavarian pine
and shadows moving on the Rhine
I still wait for my Heron to open the sky
and let the long lines of separation
draw to a close.
ii.
an afterthought
floating
on the river of no return
a black swan,
ready to fly
iii.
a cricket chirps
serenades the night
by all rights, I should be 6' tall if not seven,
I should have wings on my feet, my god Mercury
at my side to do my bidding
when lust fills the air
and tangibility bites the dust
alas
i am too short on words,
a poet buried
too deep
in the center of a lavender light
and the whippoorwill's call,
between
the scent of Bavarian pine
and shadows moving on the Rhine
I still wait for my Heron to open the sky
and let the long lines of separation
draw to a close.
ii.
an afterthought
floating
on the river of no return
a black swan,
ready to fly
iii.
a cricket chirps
serenades the night
