can't you see the moon, feel the heron touching you?

they speak of a coming ice age
and they speak of global warming
do you see how this just might
work out?

we live in four-cornered rooms
but we're
round,
roundness everywhere!
can't you see all the roundness?

the palms of our hands are round--
we worship and speak with our hands
we build monuments to hands, to
Buddhas and generals, to statesmen
dictators and poets
and we tear down the old ways
with our hands,
screaming with birth cries that
bring down walls between us
that we may see the roundness of our heels,

walking on fire,
burning through the aftermath.

Dear Mom

its true we will in square but we are round sounds like the ultimate ... making that round fit to square doesnt matter how we try ... and we tear down the old ways with our hands, screaming with birth cries that bring down walls between us that we may see the roundness of our heels, walking on fire, burning through the aftermath. These are my favourite words just those last lines burnt their way into me Sorry was in no condition to be posting here last night didnt even post my poem lol Love and biggest bug hugs Jayne x x x

The Round...

everything turning onto itself the roundness of the cycle ending with beginnings life from the fire renewed I love where your mind goes Anna, you are an inspiration to many here but have been quite the source for me at times... your title drew me in so easily, I have a natural flowing creek that runs through the bottom land of my property, it is viewable from my front window, last week, there were six deer prancing in the water, there are always small fish swimming in it, frogs, crawdads... but yesterday a blue heron landed there, and began walking and dipping into the water for a snack... it was wonderful for me to watch, a majestic bird... thanks for posting this and letting me share my little moment with you! Re:reply

Sorry, it's impossible for me to write it as there are 5 letters in this word, and I prefer writing rhymes 'aabbcc' or 'ababcdcd', though I sometimes write limericks too. Konstantin.

I think one of our greatest moments is when another's poem reminds us of one, long past, mostly unremembered. Thank you zigs. I do so love when that happens. ~A "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

unfortunatly missiles of mans stupidity are round also. But in any shape not fit for kids to play with.I wait the new world order that dosen't seem to be far off at this point. But lets not worry only flakes believe in armeggedon. You are a visionary poet K.Isent it a lonely place? But not here my dear girl. Here you are among your children. When man can control his selfish impulses and rise up to embody the principals of love. Then he will live in the utopia you envision. The only other possibility is extinction.I bow.Love Barry......o

Barry, now I have tears in my eyes. I could joke and say, "it's not nice to make mom cry", or I could say Armageddon happens in each and every one of us--the essence of "rising up to embody the principles of love*. Not the selfish human love, but the love that brings a peace that passeth understanding. And I think I just said both. ;-) Thank you Barrylove. ~A "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

One of my life long goals,

One of my life long goals, other than making the perfect sandwitch, is to clear up any missunderstandings about love. three forms of love from the greek language aggapa- Godly philios- brotherly areos - romantic love is the perfect form of existence It can have no negative connotation the selfishness you speak of above has nothing to do with love. You can't have bad good or good bad. Only good or bad. They can not mix Yes bad and good can temporarily exist togeather but they are constantly canceling each other out till your eather one or the other an immutable force of V'erit'e

Dear Kailashana

Dear Kailashana there is a great play of lightness and weight to your words. Much wisdom within robes of great beauty. I haven't watched the decalogue myself in over ten years, my copy is still in the vhs cassette format. I'll probably watch it again soon. Some of the music from those films is so lovely. Thankyou for sending me your little anecdote of your trip to first see the film it made me smile. Love Dalton.

A Grand write

All I can say is that this is brilliant and you have a very wise mind. You write about things that make us work our idle minds, let us see and hear things we may never have thought of before, you put feelings in and we then feel, look, I just think this is a grand intelligent write. Sorry, my opinion. Well done. Lyz. XX

"The light

which experience gives us, is a lantern on the stern, which shines only on the ways behind" Samuel Coleridge Such as this is reflected in your poem. "walking on fire, burned in the aftermath" are my favourite lines. Well done on the Spotlight! Boni ps. Have to contest - that my palm is square! lol

Dear Anna,

I do like this poem very much. I particularly love this set of lines: "and we tear down the old ways with our hands, screaming with birth cries that bring down walls between us that we may see the roundness of our heels" Partly I like it because you have found wonderful and unique metaphors to convey the images, such as seeing "the roundness of our heels". Partly, I like it because of the subject's emphasis upon roundness in living (and cosmic) things - the rasberry, to offer a favourite example. I have a great desire to build studio space out of flax bales, which are rectangular and, of course, held together with a kind of (probably plastic) string. It will make the task many times harder to make round walls from rectangular bales, but that is how I am thinking today. Flax bales sell for $1.50 - $2.00 per bale. So we are talking very inexpensive construction costs, R 50 insulation effect or better, high ceilings and tall doors. Then the curves. Brian

Hi Brian, Thank you for your comments. It's interesting how poems come to me, this was a vision of seeing myself walking away. About your bales of flax, I once watched HGTV religiously when wearing my Realtor hat and several episodes were shown on homes built from straw. Beautiful rounded spaces in desert areas. Couldn't find the episode I wanted but here are some links: http://tinyhouseblog.com/straw-bale/a-desert-oasis/ http://www.tri-cityherald.com/greenliving/story/794682.html http://www.hgtv.com/worlds-most-extreme-homes/british-straw-bale-home-mexican-mediterranean-montreal-balloon-factory/index.html http://www.hgtv.com/home-improvement/the-straw-house/index.html Love to you & Olya, ~A "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha
