Coffee and a smoke

Waiting for the water to boilA spoonful of coffee in my cupI sit in my dressing gownWipe the sleep from my eyes I need a smoke

I open the packet - just two left

I take one out - put it to my lips

cup my hands - I light up I take a long slow draw - on my cigarette.Go out on the porch - stand there shiveringDraw in again - exhale oh so slowlySavouring every moment Water boiled

I sit and watch the steam rise
I pour hot water into my cup
I stir the spoon slowly -

it echoes against the

side of my cupThe aroma ... I lift my cup with both hands feeling

the heat flow through my fingers

taking my first sip - slowly

my taste buds exploding -

the sensation....WoW My body and mind race so fastMy heart feels it will blow upThis lasts for about an hourThen dies down …….. I need another coffee, I need another smoke

love this one Maggie I watch and am watched it is ego that thinks we are alone the reward systems some of us create our rituals "trophy" lighters "spoons" "wives" "lovers" my mind is calm and whirling like a silent explosion there are millenium between fragments that will cut shards and sections thank you

Org Thank you for looking in on my poem and glad it made you smile. So many start the day this way. I know my day starts with words ends with words that is my vice. Yes, I am watching but it is longing to have someone to share with. I see others walking talking laughing sharing this is all i ask for too. Blue

Lyz I did try smoking and drinking due to peer pressure but when it tried i did not like the taste or smell so decided not to continue. When I now think of the costs of drink and cigarettes who can afford it anyway. I know many of the guys and gals at work really young drink smoke and eat the big boys breakfast full of fat etc. and there is me with my porridge or beans on toast etc or marmite on toast (could not get on with vegimite) So hopfully my arteries are in good condition. Did a cholesteral check at work recently where they weight you do your blood pressure etc and other things etc. I came out fit and health as a 25 - 35yrs great. So I will stick to my writing music art etc. love and hugs Magz xx

Very wise woman, lol. Yes it is expensive, but I am fully addicted, I spent 5 and a bit years at home, I had agoraphobia and coffee and cigarettes actually kept me sane, but not when I ran out, lol. You stick to your guns and stay healthy, okay. Love from Lyz. XX

Ziggy Thanks for looking In on my poem. I love to sit and watch observing others when they do not know. I cannot help it. Being an artist I study faces etc. As for punctuation I have a problem some like it some not so unsure. Then as a smoker only you can tell me if this is the kick you get when you light up and savour that first cigarette of the morning etc. Did I get it right? always Blue
