Some Cosmic Jokester
I cannot help but notice
how every thing's going to change
and the direction that things take are hard to Gage,
time hurls minutes at us
owning us like gravity
which makes it difficult to act one's age.
At any given moment
(depending on who I'm with)
even I, could regress in years and pitch a fit,
over the direction things keep taking
for instance, in our grocery stores
where we're charged a lot more money for what's not in it.
Light this, diet that...and the caffeine-free syndrome
have prices that weigh more at the check-out stand
then of course, it's promoted..."cheaper bought in bulk"...
but, homes have gone the other way
by becoming more compact
in a few minutes, I'll be old enough to sulk.
It's like some cosmic jokester
keeps changing the punch-line to our lives
causing all our best laid plans to go awry,
and the winds of time keep altering
playing havoc with our minds
as increments of measure, fly on by.
how every thing's going to change
and the direction that things take are hard to Gage,
time hurls minutes at us
owning us like gravity
which makes it difficult to act one's age.
