fifty years hence

fifty years from now,
maybe even eleven days'
journey hence,
or fifteen minutes after the
darkness prevails
I will have been rendered a moot point,
a small blip on a cosmic screen,
neither found underground
inside a burial vault
near an orchard grove
nor dancing in the wind--
my ashes will have become
settled in time

but if someone should read a poem
of mine floating in an oasis
of dates
and wonder who I was

my life will have been worth at least
one sunrise.

I really enjoed the way you

I really enjoed the way you played with the idea of the immortality of a poem, how words outlive the speaker. Beautiful! I really liked 'my ashes will have become/settled in time'. Very inspirational. Thanks

Robert Frost once said that

Robert Frost once said that he just wanted to write a few poems that coulden't be gotten rid of easily. But I think in a deeper sense it isen't the poem, but the love that prompts it's creation that is eternal.Without love there are no poems worth reading, no sunrises worth watching, and no Kailashana and that is proved now with every kind word you speak and tha thoughts of your heart turned into such beautiful poetry. love and thanks for all you give.Love and many thanks.
