A Drop to Never Never

A red bounds to halt
ears radar,
and the Nulla Nulla
rolls to beats of thunder
and smash tribute,
in a lightning
conducted heaven

An invite of ozone
in the showered mist
heralds,
a first riff,
as black opal clouds,
open
to concert

A drop hits,
the emptiness
before the tempest,
consumed silence

Thought I had better explain

Thought I had better explain what a Nulla Nulla is lol NULLA NULLA The Nulla Nulla is one of the most deadly weapons, whether used at close quarters or thrown. The shape may vary between tribes but is usually between half to one metre in length and can be used as a club or throwing stick. The handle tapers to a sharp point near the handgrip, towards the other end the handle widens into a bulb. Like the Boomerang, a Nulla Nulla could light a fire using the same method of spinning it quickly with downward pressure in the surface crack of a dry log and a spark was made. Nulla Nulla was basically a throwing stick.

Dear Jayne-Chloe,

I read your poem and explanation of the Nulla Nulla to Olya this morning. We are so enamored with the determination in your pen as you tackle this place in the outback of Never Never. The experts say 19 days of new habit replaces the old. Perhaps this is true with 12 year olds. For likes of us, add a day or two. We are so proud of you, Jayne-Chloe. And you just chop down any poem of mine at your lessure and make it more Nulla Nulla. Five stars for your big heart, gumption, endurance, and being on a new path. With guggles of bugs, Brian

Dear Brian

I am on the path of uncertainty ... these writes were coming out and from nowhere, and I still cant tell with freestyle ... rhymers are a different matter ... thanks for your support and I am soooo chuffed at your comment ? thats like finding a black diamond rare and precious ... I thought to write some of my memories and this is one .. Never never in the outback is massively inspiring ... My Partners brother owns a Sapphire mine(near a place called Emerald lol) and two Opal mines at lightning ridge soooo the black opal is a nod to him, a little wish for him you could say .. Ian(snakes brother) took my daughter up mining for sapphires one year and well she wont ever be in want for stones for rings etc and its my birth stone lol ... I had a Nulla Nulla,... they are lethal,I threw it one day LOL they go further than what you would expect hahaha and I didnt expect it to smash through the fence ... :| I have been lucky to know some kooris who have talked about their culture and shared with me ... So I am trying to weave a little of traditional Australia through my poetry without disrespecting their ways ... and they are a very proud people ... love and higgliest bugs Jayne x x love and

Nulla Nulla...

Sounds like something that would null and void your life if it hit you! Trying respect someone else's culture while writing about it, is sometimes a tricky business. You never know when they might take offense at something, if their culture is quite different than yours. I remember being facinated with one of those cultures in your country, where the British were quite perplexed at the bushpeople who would come and say "Boss, me go walkabout" which meant they needed a vacation, and when asked when they were coming back, could only say "When I be done Boss". LOL ~ Gee

Dear Gee

Definately Null and void you ... I have heard tales from some Kooris ... these had to be lethal they brought down foe and food alike ... and made fire ... guess it was a bit like a swiss knife of the bronze age ? lol I respect them and their culture ... just borrowing some of the tools for arts sake ... and honouring them in the process I am careful of watching what I write so as not too ... thanks for having a read of this one Gee I knew it wouldnt be everyones cup of tea but I am glad my friends liked it (huggles) love and biggest hugs Jayne x x x

Back again, lol

The storm did not last long but our clock went skew whiff, and a couple of things went off and on, tv. I cant afford to lose anymore electrics, lol. Hot here too. Your poem is really good, the storm was a good back drop. I know of some things through family ties and the culture is interesting. Anyway, well done on this. Love Lyz. XX

one drop

This musical percussion of a poem, the word onomatopoeic springs to mind in staccato rhythms sporadic thoughts and ideas that only speak their meaning later on in the cacophony and then wow ozone sprayed mist and black opal clouds ( like my mother-of-pearl-clouds, the ones I saw here in Oslo) And THAT one drop, oh wow it comes down and we can see it coming and coming and then is hits the silence, wonderfully wonderful. But I must first study what is meant by the Nulla Nulla, as that has no meaning at all for me, or should it not have anyway? Oh this is fun I must go see dear Jayne. Yours for now Ann

Native Australins have some wonderful traditions

Oh I didn't even look at the comments I tend to wish not to be influenced by them, that's why. I now see and LOVE it what a lovely name for them too, those native Australians have some wonderful traditions and art don't they? My Aunt and Uncle from Adelaide had a wonderful collection of rock paintings from them and I copied their slides into B&W and still enjoy them, but now we can see on the net. I have always been fascinated by prehistoric arts and even have made a book of the Norwegian rock carvings, wonderful art. Thank you dear Jayne I was blind! We get carried away with our own 'thing' and don't even study the rest? Love as aye Ann

Dearest Ann

I Rarely look at the other comments unless I am in a conversation with regards to helping with a poem suggested changes, I dont like being influenced either though sometimes I go back to look at the comment and think god you wrote that lol ... well if you like Rock art i might be able to supply you with some cave art ... I know someone has quite an extensive range of pictures ... he was a surveyer and would take pictures on his way round the country ... will ask for a few and scan then I am sure he wouldnt mind ... then you can see some art that not many people have ever seem ... there is one I cant remember the name of the cave but its massive in the north of queensland ... hes got pictures and they are simply amazing he took pics in the day and in the night and you wouldnt believe the difference the look of the darkness gave to the art ... surreal is the only word I can think of to be honest ... and your not blind dear lady lol I dont normally put comments on my poems soo it would be natural to miss it (hugs) and love Jayne x x

OOOO excitement rises

Yes rock paintings are wonderful in Australia and would tempt me to visit the country, maybe I will bring 'someone' there with me one day, who knows! I would LOVE to have some photographs of their work and already look forward to the treat of them, yes please do ask him, and maybe get his e mail address so that I could in exchange send some Norwegian ones to him, we even have some of 9000 years old ones and that's quite old as such go, in the North. I have mostly slides so would have to make them digital, but then the quality is good so it can be done. I will send some of me with a site just over the border into Sweden, Bohuslän, which was Norwegian when they were made!! Sh! Molly might not like that. Thank you for understandingme too dearest Jayne in the bush, Ann.

I missed this one.Thanks to

I missed this one. Thanks to evolution I spotted it. Blank verse can be a lonely enterprise. You have to streath your mind around the concept and the imagery. and you have done that briliantly in this work. I can't find one weak point in it. It is a perfectly executed poem in blank verse. I assume a red is a deer or similar animal? Is never never an expression signifieing the out back? Two words express this work BEAUTIFLY BRILLIANT.The idea of spotlighting the native people is a great idea. I hope you persue this theme in some of your future works. Barry........o...

I knew when I took it on that it was lonely lol not everyone likes it but I like writing it .. I am slowly finding my feet in blank verse but it takes time as we both know ... The red is a kangaroo big red kangaroo and they are huge in the outback you get a few big ones round here but outback I have seen one nearly seven foot tall and they are not friendly lol ... and your compliment is very much appreciated lol beautifully brilliant will do me anytime lol ... love and hugs Jayne x x
