Minstrels Eulogy

Minstrels Eulogy

Where came the blood that stains your hands?
Father, tell me, I must know.
Is it from some creature of forest deep
that lurked there in the snow?

My daughter, it's just from an old gray wolf
grown hungry and mad with age.
When it attacked I found myself
consumed with righteous rage

Oh father dear, 'tis not the blood
of wolf or beast of field,
none would be out this time of day
for to man they always yield.

Shame hangs my head, oh daughter dear,
and needs must I confess.
'Tis the blood of thine own true love
I killed to my distress.

Oh father, why would you take his life
leaving me bereft in grief?
'Tis you I'll slay if strength I find
to give mine heart relief.

Fear not, oh daughter of my heart,
for justice doth await.
Outside, there stands the hangman dark
to take me to my fate.

lyz, thank you m'am

I am very happy you found it enjoyable. I like to write different things from a somewhat odd turn of mind I have. I appreciate it. Oh Paw... Strange, maybe a little. Talented and amazing. Absolutely. That was an awesome and amazing story and since it was a father daughter slant, all the more cool. I loved your minstrel's cadence that was a great. I will read that again. {{HUGS}} Julie D.D.

Awww, thanks daughter

Glad you liked it. My mind just seems to be searching through all sorts of odd corners and coming up with stuff. One of these days, I guess I'll have to clean up the mess. *L* Respectfully, Rett: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time" Abraham Lincoln..Now, if our government would really learn that.

Just out of curiousity Paw?

Just out of curiousity Paw? No son in laws or daughter's true loves actualy inspired this. Right? All though you wouldn't be the first father in law to think of it. Ha-ha *LOL*. D.D.

*LOL* Oh, I've thought of it

But it was just something that came to mind today on the spur of the moment. Usually, I don't post one so soon after writing because they all need to be tuned up a bit and I have already tuned this one 2-3 times. *L* Respectfully, Rett: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time" Abraham Lincoln..Now, if our government would really learn that.
