Beyond the Gates of Perdition

The Bride -

Eyes an explosion of light
veins lightening through skin
blue through pain eviscerated by desire
to be free or know nothing more

Veiled wings that lighten through heaven
face the incarnate signature of all you have loved
hair a diadem a crown of flames
mouth the seal of unspoken knowledge

breasts a sweet bouquet in bloom
dripping with myrrh beneath the triform moon
tufts of shadow down
that obscure the mouth of life

navel to throat adorned in the
latticed jewels of the bride
feet in the soil that caverns the black earth
owl-like utterances that disturb lovers in their sleep

The First and fated wedded kiss
and every moment an echo of this
the wrists encircled by serpents of time
The seed of Israel and Blood her wine

The Bridegroom -

Waste expelled from the core of a dying star
brightest at the last moment of its existence
and knowing that only in death might absolution
be earned, for the brightest of heavens planets
yet might know again that infinite Doxology
of the Kingdom of the Word, amidst winged siblings
beings of sight and light alone, that ancient cry
to Heaven forgotten and the Gates of Hell
by Uriel, the flame, forever enclosed...

Dear Raven

Thankyou for reading my poem. In a way its still sort of a work in progress in that I'm not entirely certain it is finished. As always your views are welcome on this. Mostly I have concerned myself on the subject of angels and fallen angels, which is the subject of this poem. Forgiveness of even the worst sinner, we see in the last stanza. The first half of the poem concerned with the many symbols of Lilith, the bad girl of judaic mysticism. Again I always like to see good in bad. Without suffering there would be no pleasure, without the pain of aloneness there would be no joy of togetherness. Your views above all, on this site, mean the most. Hope to hear from you soon, Dalton.
