she roamed the earth, he roams even now

i.

the sun is gone
and the sky is grey
the wind is cold
and comes my way
leaves of gold
are now strewn away

the crimson ones
still
hold on tight
still beg for light,

my darling Beloved if you should see
my garden window all aglow,
orchids tower
stems of wanton beauty
begging
to be touched
by your eyes

the rain is cold and cannot speak
your grave far too far away

ii.

twenty-four hours after I have died
fifteen baskets of flowers, already wilting
turning into the death of all things
severed from roots, preciously entwined
in the tree of life,
I will be no more
and the space I had taken
finally
free.

...preciously entwined

This one hits me at several levels, and certain words jump out at me as if they are not only part of the poem but also something else more deeply rooted in the the true meaning of the poem. I am going to hold back the words that jump out at me in case I am way off the mark. Whatever, this is an awesome piece of writing, I prefer the second poem most, but they work very well together, in fact I would go as far to say they 'intertwine' perfectly and beautifully together. 'Spotlight' and well deserved indeed. It isn’t that we don’t

It isn't that we don't love enough, it's that we love too much... it all passes away too quickly and we are left with sorrow so deep that we must turn away the love. Light ~Anna "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

Must we?

Must we turn away that love...it is the depth of sorrow that brings the pain to words but for me ...there must always be hope, of another love, another chance . Seabhac

Happy All Hallow’s Eve to

Happy All Hallow's Eve to you too, HS... Once you have Leonard in your blood, he's there to stay. I just wish you could have heard him live. The voice richer and deeper baritone, and the band, the singers! Though I love & have loved many groups, individuals, I have never been a *groupie*, but had I the funds, I would have made the world tour with him. You're lifted to another realm. I was incredibly dismayed to learn Amnesty International & Haaretz withdrew in protest of his concert in Israel. http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/ramatgan.html http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1080885.html Who but musicians/poets can cross all the division, into inspiration? Dear Kailashana

Thankyou for a fine Halloween poem. Are the crimson ones fallen angels, or some other entity? This is certainly a work I will return to again and again. This story has a sting in the tail, if a wee bit sad, though necessary. I am prone to a fancy for happy endings in art if not so much in life. One of your best so far, thankyou, Dalton.

Who knows what kind of

Who knows what kind of beginning is on the other side of any ending? We live through them... and perhaps we die through them also. Happy endings are interfaced with happy beginnings, but alas, I too, am an incurable romantic. Thanks for reading. Dearest Anna

I am sure his spirit is listening. The first of your poems is truly beautiful although for me perhaps the last line of the first verse is not as strong as the rest. The second poem is rather different but i still enjoyed it other than perhaps to differ from the opinion that on your death the space you occupied here will be free....I suppose for me the freedom is that you are no longer confined to a single space but can instead occupy many smaller ones in many different places. Keith, I am not sure of

Keith, I am not sure of anything, but this one moment I exist. Perhaps you and I have a different view point. The entire world is within me there is no *outside*... that veil was lifted a long time ago. And when I die, *my world* will have disappeared into the nothing I was before I am. Oh Anna Oh anna Oh Anna

You are God's gift to ..........? All the fairies of life's love's dawning are come out to see you pass, they sing the sweetest songs, dance the most graceful dances, shine with the brightest light, flamed with rainbows and shooting stars yours is a gift of seldom worth, a treasured bouquet of nature's magic truths, a sensitive flow of sounds that caress even the rough, but so well the smooth. Oh how we love you. Ann.

Ask my kids & x as to who I am....there......might be a difference of opinion. Lol. Nevertheless, they love me and that we can and do find *unknown* family on the net is an unexpected blessing. As usual, dear sister of the Northern Lights, your replies are pure poetic prose. Never had a sister with whom I could experience jealousy before. ;-) Hugs, Anna "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha
