A Child’s Christmas Eve

Oh I’m so excited

it’s Christmas eve

and father Christmas is coming

I keep looking out of the window

to see if I can see him

but mummy says

 I have to  be asleep

other wise he will not come

I’m getting very  sleepy  now

and soon I am off to bed

but before I go

I  put out a mince pie and some carrots

for father  Christmas  and  his reindeers

so they won’t be hungry

I ask mummy

if she would make him a cup of tea

so he won’t be cold when he goes back outside

she smiles at me

and says

that she  will make sure hat he will be alright

I climb into my bed

and  go to asleep

in the morning

I awoke with a shriek of delight

as I saw my presents

sitting there

waiting for me to open

I thought to myself

thank you father  christmas

hello

This poem is both cute and sweet, written from a child's view point. My favorite lines are: I put out a mince pie and some carrots for father Christmas and his reindeer(s) (reindeer is both singular and plural) so they won’t be hungry I think it just needs a bit of tweaking, but it is a great start. Always, Cat
