Dancing Swirl

Dancing Swirl

I knew your smile was there.

In thirty minutes
you found freedom
as you read my words

and I grinned
blushing in the cool air with quiet criticism.

You sanded tar from beneath your feet
and walked through
my flightless passages as if
you truly knew me;

and I liked that you saw this flame

a dancing swirl
of erotic energy
just waiting
for you
to caress its embers.

I knew the reality of it -

black words on white pages
time slipping between
provocative messages and daylight

but still, I wanted it.

I could be somewhat better
in those words,
where age didn't have lines
and curves were not

so round.

Loved this. I really enjoyed

Loved this. I really enjoyed reading the whole thing, but the bit that hit me most was the last few lines, it's very powerful. It hit a nerve. Reminded me of my own insecurities. Wally

Thank you

It is amazing what we will do to ourselves - what society makes us think of ourselves and though logically we know we come in all shapes, sizes and colors, we are still our own worst critics. I appreciate your wonderful comments on this piece and am so pleased you enjoyed it. I will look to your work soon. Thank you again. ~Pamela

I LOVE this Pamela, you

I LOVE this Pamela, you cloak the meanings in robes so simple yet so divine, so expressive yet not brash, a very particular poem. Love Ann of Norway
