The Relics of My Woes

I have sat on the summit of mountains

And seen oceans rise as fountains

So pure and white

I dived deep and swam

How pure I looked, I thought

I returned to the summit but it was occupied

But I lived and never was I worried

I have sat on the tail of the dragon

And flown across the sky

How then do I fall from the tail wagon

That is speed shy

I have lived in the Mesozoic era

Surviving the scare of dinosaurs

Who could only last but for a time

I have seen death beckoning

When I gave away my kind

I have sat and dined with you

When you visited

But you gave me bile

When my eyes closed a while

To pray as you have said

I have held the spiteful hands

That tied around my waist bands

That made me walk in tortoise pace

I have seen Eden in those days

Life in essence was at my door

But now I am starting again

And I hope my errors I shall refrain
