Weakness

Weakness

Frustration
brings my hands to tremble;

harsh words, my defense

until the pain in your eyes
          breathes my desperate apology

and I wither in your ache.

That you could love me still
reminds me of my weaknesses

and I am humbled by forgiveness
as my calloused hand
held within the gentle layers of yours

remembers why I love you.

I am glad to see a post from you :)

This is very soft for the hardness it speaks of; I think little can humble me more than to be forgiven unconditionally when I realize I have truly behaved badly - usually selfishly. my favorite line: "and I wither in your ache." all the best Ken

Wisteria...

So deep is your conviction... two that stay together must both feel this... know this, within its intimate unendings... thank you for posting this for me to read as I know it well... Richard

Interesting imagery!

Pain breathes, and a hand remembers! I think there is more complexity in this poem, emotionally, than I have grasped; but I can appreciate the creativity of its imagery!

Thank you

I expect there is depth that goes beyond words in most relationships. Forgiveness is key when it matters enough to do so, but it is a difficult thing to do. I appreciate your comment. -Wist
