when I belonged to my younger self
a little Spanish mambo-jumbo,
a little salsa, a little merengue,
we were young and danced
cheek-to-cheek
a temptation tango,
our bodies hot with sweat and desire
the élan of music and song,
the red wine of our drunkenness
dreams
you sang to me
in the time of our time,
when we loved
the sweetness in our hearts
before our jeans faded blue.
