THE ALBATROSS

"It hangs discarded from the mast, bone white, foam tosseda chimera of diomedeidae* -the Albatross.
Coleridge wrote of its fame "Ah wretch! said they, the bird to slay, that made the breeze to blow,
the boat ne'er to stay" now you shall forever witness the shame -this deed will carry your name!
So they draped the bird around her neck. Her legs faltered,
her heart wept. Its feathers were weighted and wet,not from a bow or blood shedding arrow, but the tears flowing freely for her debt.
She had betrayed her loverto make off with one  - such anotheronce she had deceived him only to need him, the decree was written -she'd forever be governed by guilt.
For to live aloneis indeed solitary confinementwhy the need for such a reminder? The Albatross is deadyet he lives in her head            along with the memories                      that bind her....

No wonder we all hold the

No wonder we all hold the same images. We've all been betrayed and betray the same Lover! Albatross is such a weighty bird. Loved it. ~A There are no strangers in Paradise.

I really like how you have woven this work

Oooh Bonita I loved this one, I do love "The Rhyme of the ancient mariner", I did several ink works around that story it haunted me so much. I really like how you have woven this work... ah I have missed so much having so little time here on Neo. I am looking forward to finding some time to explore more of your work in a few weeks, well done with this for now though, so glad I chanced upon it. Cheers Anni~ "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace". H.H. the Dalai Lama

THank you ladies!

It would indeed seem like this is a poem that reaches out to the female gender! Aren't we "suckers" for punishment and then to weigh ourselves down with GUILT on top of it!! I am honoured to have both of you stop by! How bizarre Anni! I just happened upon your sensuous piece to comment seconds before I came here! Thank you kindly! Bonita j
