A Fondness for Pensive Gullibility

Truer words could never have been spoken
than the phrase, "A glutton for his punishment".
I used to believe it was that you liked it
but now, I believe I know just what was meant.

One need not, have a fondness for huge disrespect
but, a care-not attitude towards being free,
if you don't mind being bound by the ropes of circumstance
then you deserve the outcome handed to thee.

It's sort of like, "You've made your bed, now lie in it"...
and, the pig-stye you end up with serves you right,
if you can't see to change things in your favor
then you must like being made a fool of, every night !

The only other scenario that it could be
is, that something has gone "soft" between your ears,
so, the fact that everyone runs right over you
means, you haven't the intelligence of your peers.

Then, of course they'd think you'd have to be joking
if you'd change horses, in the middle of the stream,
and suddenly demanded a modicum of respect
no one would take you seriously, so it would seem.

So, if you find yourself inside this quandry
where you wish to do much more, than merely pout,
simply disregard their disruptive nature
and show them, what a "glutton for punishment's" all about !

A Fond...poem

Doc., I really do like work such as this. Much of what I write has to do with learning by my experience. The trick is to apply it to my living, for the benefit of myself and others. wcw

I really believe....

...that we're destined to repeat all of life's lessons that we have yet to master, until-(hopefully)-we finally get 'em right. Even if it's not so, I believe it's got to be "character inhancing"...to say the least. Sort of like the "trick" that you make reference to, nes pa? But, more than almost anything.....I appreciate generous comments like the one you left ! Thanks, Mr. Wampler. "Write on"! sincerely, #{:-{)}8==== docmaverick.

Dear Doc

What is the matter. Boy I would hate to be at the end of your harsh words that could be classed as the gift of the gab. It is another insightful write from you and I enjoyed this as the others, I agree to the majority of this and I also feel a little rave going on, healthy and I look forward to more. Love and wishes, Lyz. Xx

Lyz, it was just one of those....

...instances, where I was caught "slipping"...and someone thought that the proper response was to take advantage of the moment and prosper...and, at my expense to "boot"! Aahhh...such is the way of the world. However, when one weighs the benefit of prospering at someone else'es expense.....against the degree of the dark-colored stain across one's soul.....well then, there's the "rub", eh? At any rate, thanks for reading and commenting. Your comments, once again, have lifted my spirits up just enough, by "hearing" your words come off of the monitor.....to make the piece ever so worthwhile. You are too kind. Thanks. "Write on"! sincerely, #{:-{)}8==== docmaverick.
