For the 'morrow
The dust has barely settled
from yesterday's itinerary,
we could've concentrated on more details
if we weren't in such a hurry
some tasks were not quite finished
leaving a lot that went, unsaid,
didn't notice all the hearts on which we've tread.
What was left unfinished
we just say, wasn't meant to be,
how foolish is this sentence
geared to set our conscience, free
our integrity out the window
we claim we did the best we could,
it's our "magic" way of turning bad to good.
Quality Control is needed
to measure progress made,
or else the light in our children's eyes
will surely flicker and fade
for we're building their tomorrows
and their faith in us is pure,
we need to concentrate on their future.
We're setting bad examples
and poor standards, as we go,
it isn't real constructive
to pretend that we didn't know
but with tenacity, and hard work
taking each child by the hand,
we can build a bright tomorrow they'll understand.
