China Doll

High upon a shelf
On a forgotten attic wall
Lived a lonley china doll

Once upon a time
She had been
A beauty queen
Every little girl's dream

Now she sat staring
Alone and dreaming
Of what she used to be

Tattered, worn out dress
Used to be the bluest silk
Dusty blonde curls
Now reduced to
A hopless mess

All she wanted
Was to be loved
All she wanted
Was a family
Of her own
One that wouldn't grow
And leave her behind

Days went by
Months turned to grey
The china doll
Had enough of her stay

They found her
On the floor
Shattered pieces
Tell the tale
Of her broken life
The once beautiful little doll
Finally ended her strife

China Dolls...

Forgotten dolls, broken toys Are the played out things Of girls and boys Wonder not they are laid aside Getting older now Is our sense of pride Realised dreams, forgotten ways Things let go, to the past days Memories show our foolishness The joy and thrill of our first kiss Simply put, there ain't enough room So some thoughts go to the dark and gloom Remembered and thought again Only after we become women and men Sorry, I just got so carried away with your poem...Hig bugs and love ~ Gee

Hi loved the theme

It could cover a doll or just any woman loosing her beauty and interest to the world through age and tattered dresses. Normally I wouldn't be so picky about typo errors but I feel on spotlight you have a lot of new poets who are reading these great poems. High upon a shelf On a forgotten attic wall Lived a (lonley) china doll Tattered, worn out dress Used to be the bluest silk Dusty blonde curls Now reduced to A (hoples) mess Best Wishes Seabhac
