Wings

when I am
dead
free my hair
so that it flows
out over the pillow
let it dance
between your
tender
beautiful fingers

do not cry
the lilies will be wet
and there will be stains on my dress

your warm hand
on my cheek
careful
like a little bumblebee

I will wait for you
at the gate
just as we said

until you arrive
I can try on
the wings

Molly,

this is so tender, one can almost forget that you are writing about death (a courageous subject). To have someone to be reunited with when you're gone... this special kind of connection... wow. Yours, ~Nina

I wanted to comment and by the time I returned to your poem, Nina & Jayne beat me to it. Heart-achingly lovely poem. So many wonderful lines!! ~A lilies (plural) or the lily (singular) ' denotes ownership. instead of *the* would you consider *my* or *these* or *jeweled* or_______ wings? Dalton to Odd Molly

Loved this one. Especially the lines: "I will wait for you at the gate just as we said until you arrive I can try on the wings" No I love every line. Reminds me of one of my own poems about (the eternal lovers)Adam and Eve. I hope to read more of your work. Love and respects Dalton.

Dear Molly,

Here is the evocative in a dramatic swirl. How death comes upon your mind is an open question. However, its contemplation, mixed with sexual and romantic tension, is a powerful commondity. Well done. Congradulations, Molly. Brian

Wings

Just came back to read this one again, because I love it. just one suggestion I think it would read better if you left out "the" wings [last line] but that is just me~ ___________________________________________________ Income-tax forms should be more realistic by allowing the taxpayer to list "Uncle Sam" as a dependent Anonymous

Dear O.Molly:

It seems to me you have a mother-daughter date on Heavenly circles! I like this picture, and there is no fear in the writing, nor your hand trembles, assured as you are of your convictions. An A+ in Spiritual Philosophy!!! And another nomination with stars. Thank you my dear friend! Great poem indeed! Sincerely, Hugo

yes

this works really well, and I quite like the ending lines, they seem to bring everything to a close in a way that feels kind of casual, almost off hand, like it's no big deal to be trying on wings for a fit. love. Craig

Try on the wings...

Molly this is just so gorgeous to read, the descriptives alone make you let go of your surroundings and submerge yourself in this finely crafted piece of poetry! Again your eloquent and daintily style is flawless and just oozes down the page, your dew wet hair sparkles with morning gems that are scattered through out your flayed tresses that gentle lay there to be picked and carried to the garden gates... and such a welcome you shall recieve there! You don't need to try on the wings Molly... you were born with them, they just invisible to the human eye, but your aura and soul gleam with an argent sheen. Be they feathered wings of angels to opaque iridescent wings of faeries and dragonflies to dazzling patterened wings of butterflies to weatherworn leathery fire tinged wings of dragons... they all suit you in spirit... as you often uplift many to lofty heights as if they were on the strings of harps and you pluck at our heart-strings with such verve, zest and vibrance that we have to smile right here and right now... even in the eyes of deaths long sleeping dreams... but we'll be awoken with your soft folding wings to protect us on that special journey to netherland. Thanks Molly, for taking me there and beyond. An outstanding poem indeed! Simply amazing for me, keep it up! Dale :)
