"Now lies the earth all Danae to the stars, and all thy heart lies open unto me." -Tennyson
"Now lies the earth all Danae to the stars,
And all thy heart lies open unto me."-Tennyson
There was a meteor storm last night,
While all the girls were sleeping.
A shower of almost-stars
Tumbled over them like open mouths.
They never even stirred.
Even the girl
Whose skin had once screamed beneath unwanted hands
Did not notice the fingers of light
That parted her lips and streamed over her neck
And lost themselves in her hair.
In the morning,
She woke with streaks of meteor on her thighs
Something in her belly bloomed and glowed.
Once, she remembered,
She had wished upon the stars
For love.
