Destination: Anywhere
I spy her in my peripheral
Laughing
Transmitting a florescent smile
This asphalt path,
Cut through solid rock.
Circling mountains,
Cascading over water
Burnt through the serrated bush…
It’s our path to the indefinite
We drift equally for an instant
Each pondering the others intention
A fleeting glimpse into each others lives
Each others eyes.
Until the white undulation quivers
It destroys her focus,
Though she’s had enough
She’s given up,
Floating too close to the edge.
I give a silent snigger
Diverting, deflecting my attention
This asphalt path,
Winding through hills
Relating insignificant towns
Intertwining,
Interlocking upon itself
Enabling exuberant voyage
The sun,
Merciless inferno in the sky
Barer of life on earth
Extends its benevolent rays
Coating all in sight with colour
Reds,
Greens,
Blues,
Whites,
All shoot past my glass confines
The never-ending circuitry
The ever-expanding course
Forced upon the landscape
To satisfy our growth
This asphalt path I’ve grown to love
It provides me many effects
Drifting along this hardened trail
Bequeaths me yet a different outlet
